Jamil N. Alibhai is a Shareholder at Munck Carter, and Chairman of the Litigation section.

Mr. Alibhai has participated in all facets of complex commercial litigation cases and appeals in state and federal courts nationwide. Mr. Alibhai has experience in cases involving corporate and partnership disputes, securities issues, tax issues, lending issues, construction issues, insurance and surety coverage issues, hospitality industry, intellectual property, bankruptcies and adversary proceedings, receiverships, and class actions.

Mr. Alibhai earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1992 in Economics and Political Science from New York University College of Arts and Science. While in college, he represented NYU at the National, North American, and World Parliamentary Debate Championships. Mr. Alibhai earned his law degree in 1995 at the Southern Methodist University School of Law, where he was a William F. Hutchison Merit Scholar and graduated as a member of the Order of the Barristers. Mr. Alibhai also won two American Jurisprudence Awards and was twice named Best Advocate. Mr. Alibhai has also taught Trial Advocacy as an Adjunct Professor at Southern Methodist University School of Law.

Representative Experience:

  • Representing an international pharmaceutical company in a patent infringement case against a generic manufacturer.
  • Representing a government contractor in a patent infringement dispute relating to fiber-optic connectors.
  • Defended a telecommunications company and its CEO in a $125 million shareholder oppression and breach of fiduciary duty action.
  • Defended a publicly-traded real estate investment trust in a federal court action involving a $118 million real estate transaction.
  • Obtained a $43 million verdict in a cigar distribution case (a National Law Journal Top 100 Verdict).
